How do I get a dragon puppet?

 

There are 2 ways of getting a dragon puppet.

 

If you have a clear idea of what dragon you want you can contact me at katwinslade@gmail.com to discuss a commission puppet. This would be a custom build to create a dragon just for you, the way you want and measured to your size. This method is a longer process as the build takes some time, however the dragons you receive will be a one of a kind artwork made just for you. The build process on a custom dragon can take between 6-8 weeks if not longer as I hand craft the dragon from scratch. If you choose this method please be patient as art takes time.

 

The other way of getting a dragon is to wait for a dragon to be put up for adoption. I occasionally have dragons that I make then sell on my Etsy store. I make a post on my socials about an adoption so keep an eye out on my Instagram, Twitter and Tiktok for posts and links.

These dragons are not custom and come as they are. Adoption dragons will not necessarily fit everyone, I try to make them as flexible as possible however it is important to read the description of the dragon to see if the puppet will fit you. Adoption dragons unlike commission dragons are ready to go once purchased, no wait on the build time.

 

How much do the dragon puppets cost?

 

Prices vary from build to build as each dragon I make is unique and handmade from scratch. Many factors can affect the pricing of a dragon such as design, size and mechanics. I generally work in two sizes, smaller finger puppet dragons and larger hand puppet dragons.

 

The price for the larger hand puppets is in the range of $800-$2,000 USD (depending on design, plus postage)

The price for the smaller finger puppets is in the range of $300-$800 USD (depending on design, plus postage)

How much do the small dragon baby dolls cost?

I have just started making small baby dragon dolls. These dolls are soft and flexible made from a silicone mix. 

I will have pre-made dolls up for adoption on my Esty

I am currently working from one design so they all look very similar but can be customised a little. 

Custom made dolls are made with your choice of colour, wing style (fairy, feathered or dragon) and custom accessories (added fins, horns, eye design)  

These dolls custom made are priced at $500USD (plus postage) and take up to 2 weeks to create. 

I hope to have more designs available in the future.

How does commissioning a dragon puppet work?

 

The commission process starts with an expression of interest. Send an email to katwinslade@gmail.com with the idea and reference images. I will respond as soon as I can with a quote. Once a price is agreed upon, I will send a seperate invoice for an upfront, non refundable payment to cover design and material costs. Once the initial payment goes through, the build starts. We will continue to communicate over the whole process. I'll need to gather some measurements for the puppet and I'll send through design sketches so you can confirm the dragon design you want. At any point, you can ask for updates. I'm happy to send through progress photos so you can see the dragon coming together. Once the dragon is complete and the final payment sent though, I pack and mail the dragon. I will also send you the tracking details. And that’s the commission process.

 

Do you make other kinds of puppets and art?

 

Yes, I make puppets in general, dragons have just been what I have come known for. I am constantly trying to experiment with new materials and methods. Dinosaur puppets, cosplay puppets if you have a request I will make it.
